Since sexual assault allegations against Rahul Mamkootathil surfaced in August, the apartment has come under constant scrutiny, with repeated police visits disturbing other residents.
Mamkootathil appeared at St. Sebastian’s School in Kunnathurmedu North (ward 24) around 4.50 pm, choosing the near-empty final hour of polling to avoid public glare.
Rahul's counsel argued that the allegation was politically motivated and there was no mention of the complainant's name, and place and time of occurrence of the alleged crime in the complaint.
The police produced the victim's statement and other documents before the principal district and sessions court, which is considering Rahul's anticipatory bail plea.
