The newly elected Congress MP defended the TVK alliance, accused the DMK of sidelining allies, and said supporting delimitation or One Nation, One Election would be unacceptable in Tamil Nadu.
Lokesh further emphasised that India’s population has ballooned from 55 crore in 1971 to nearly 146 crore now, meaning an average MP now represents 2.5 times as many citizens.
Sources added that the NDA is working on the political arithmetic required to bridge the gap before the commencement of either Monsoon or Winter sessions of Parliament.
With more opposition MPs aligning with the ruling NDA, government sources indicate that possibilities are being explored to give a fresh push to the delimitation bill.
