Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the inaugural run of the country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train after January 14, tentatively between January 17 and 19.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) oversaw the trial, during which the train ran at 180 km/h over a 225 km stretch.
The minister proposed that the Vande Bharat Express operate via Hassan, Mangaluru Junction, Udupi and Karwar, covering key commercial, port and tourism hubs along the coast.
