In a circular issued on Sunday, the KCBC’s temperance commission said the authorities' apathy and inability to control alcoholism and drug abuse is worrying.
The government, which has been saying that alcohol is prohibited for the past 10 years, has increased the hours of bars to celebrate the New Year and adopted an approach, the organisation added.
Officials said the accused, Arjunan, locally known as Potti, a resident of Punnakkad, Neyyattinkara, had been storing large quantities of liquor and supplying it to customers.
The court observed that when liquor is supplied through canteens to retired personnel of other CAPFs, denying the same benefit to retired CISF personnel is grossly discriminatory.
