Subhra Rani Mohanty has developed a cost-effective biomass cooking stove aimed at addressing fuel scarcity, reducing cooking costs and supporting rural women and marginalised households.

The government said that on April 12, a total of 1,11,766 bookings were recorded, while the three Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) delivered 1,30,094 cylinders—well above the number of bookings.

The shortage has also driven up prices, widening the gap between public and private outlets.

The government emphasised that additional quantities have been consistently released to meet demand and prevent disruption of the supply.
