Nicknamed ‘Rockstars’ after Freddie Mercury and Elton John, the Namibian brothers were the first male cheetah coalition released with five females at Kuno on Sept 17, 2022.
India now has 56 cheetahs, including four adults and semi-adult African cheetahs at GSWS and 52 African (Namibian, SA and Botswanan) adults and their Indian born cubs at the KNP.
Though Mukhi was the lone survivor among the first four Indian born cubs of the Namibian cheetah Siyaya, the female cub at nine months of age had sustained serious limb injury.
