Claiming that the new law dilutes the powers of the gram panchayats, Siddaramaiah said now the decision on what work will be undertaken lies with the Centre.

Congress MLC Ramesh Babu said nearly 60,000 protesters could take part, making it one of the largest political mobilisations in the region in recent months.
Opposition parties continued to shout slogans against the government, claiming it was setting a false narrative on the new Act through newspaper advertisements.
