The MEA said that of the 20 Indian seafarers on board MV Cape Dao, 19 have been rescued, and the Indian Embassy in Muscat is closely monitoring the situation.
The Prime Minister emphasised that civilians and civilian infrastructure, including commercial shipping and seafarers, “must not be harmed under any circumstances”.
With Indians now accounting for more than 12 percent of the global seafaring workforce, they are present on ships operating on virtually every major international route.
