Some doctors said the reason behind a large number of people contracting the infection this year vis-a-vis last year could be that the 'virus has mutated' and the current strain is more infectious.

Amid the sharply rising cases of COVID-19 in the state, the Rajasthan government has imposed night curfew from Saturday till April 30 in 10 cities.

However, officials involved with essential services will be exempted from the curfew that will be in force from 9 PM to 5 AM.
The 'Corona Curfew' aimed at containing the spread of the pandemic will be in effect in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Udupi-Manipal, Bidar, Kalaburagi, and Tumakuru cities.
The positivity rate had been coming down till February in the state but now on average, 3,900 new cases per day are found.
The night curfew imposed in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, coupled with the Delhi government's guidelines is either affecting the sales of wedding accessories or resulting in the cancellation of bookings.
The night curfew will come into effect from Friday, the office of the Lt governor said.
Similary, the Ghaziabad district administration has also announced night curfew from 10.00 pm to 5.00 am from tonight.
