Kerala set to tread its own path in terms of model to be followed for pre-primary education and age criterion for admission to Class 1.
Under the new framework, students in classes 9 and 10 will study three languages, of which two will be Indian, while class 11 and 12 students will study two languages including one Indian.
General Education Minister V Sivankutty said revised textbooks for classes one, three, five seven and nine would reach schools next year.
The committee is co-chaired by Manjul Bhargav, a professor of mathematics at Princeton University.
She directed the school principals to set a minimum benchmark regarding infrastructure, cleanliness, classroom aesthetics and the level of education for their schools.
She said universities have accepted the concept of the academic bank of credits allowing students to transfer credits from one varsity to another.
The CM has also directed to include in the new set up and books, chapters on the basic theme and message of Bhagavad Gita and Lord Parashurama, the minister said.
