India on Thursday added 47,905 fresh cases to its COVID-19 tally and 550 deaths to its toll, as per the data shared by the Union Health Ministry.
With this addition of fresh cases, the case-load in India surged to 86,83,917 while the toll reached 1,28,121.
Meanwhile, the total active cases in the country are 4,89,294 after a decrease of 5,363 in the last 24 hours and total cured cases are 80,66,502 with 52,718 new discharges.
The increasing COVID-19 cases in the national capital has become a big concern as Delhi has now become the largest contributor of fresh coronavirus cases in the country.
Five more persons died of COVID-19 in Bihar on Thursday, raising the death toll to 1,167, while 523 fresh cases took the tally to 2,25,499, the health department said in a bulletin.
Altogether 536 patients also recovered from the disease, taking the total number of cured people to 2,17,958, the bulletin said.
West Bengal on Thursday reported the highest single-day recovery of 4,453 COVID-19 patients, taking the total number of cured people to 3,81,149, the health department said in a bulletin.
Himachal Pradesh reported six more COVID-19 fatalities on Thursday, taking the death toll in the state to 406, while 765 new cases pushed the infection count to 28,184. Three deaths were reported from Shimla, two from Mandi and one from Hamirpur, according to the Health department data issued here.
Pune district reported 622 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking its tally to 3,30,112 on Thursday, a health official said. With 19 fresh fatalities, the death toll in the western Maharashtra district rose to 8,141, he added.
Chhattisgarh's COVID-19 infection count surged to 2,07,740 on Thursday after 1,817 people tested positive for the viral infection, an official said. With 20 new fatalities, the death toll climbed to 2,527, he said.

Tamil Nadu on Thursday reported 2,112 new COVID-19 cases and 25 deaths, taking the tally to 7,52,521 and the toll to 11,440. Of the fresh infections, Chennai reported 565, Coimbatore 190, Chengelpet 148, Tiruvallur 120 and the remainder was scattered across the state, a health department bulletin said.
Ahmedabad recorded 199 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the highest for a district in Gujarat on Thursday, while 160 patients recovered from the infection, said the state Health Department. With this, Ahmedabad district's tally of positive cases rose to 44,690, said a release by the department.

With the addition of 107 fresh cases of COVID-19, the tally of infections in Goa reached 45,605 on Thursday, an official from the health department said. While the coastal state did not report any casualties during the day, 192 patients recovered from the infection, the official said.

Rajasthan reported 13 more COVID-19 fatalities on Thursday, taking the death toll to 2,032 as 2,176 new cases pushed the state's infection tally to 2,19,327.
