The Congress observed a “Black Day” in J&K on Thursday, with protests being held at party headquarters in Srinagar, Jammu and other parts of the Union Territory.
The leaders also expressed concern over reports that more than 13 crore names had been deleted from draft electoral rolls across 30 states and union territories during the SIR exercise.
The developments come amid an intensifying confrontation between the Congress and the Election Commission over the functioning of the poll panel, including SIR.
The protesters used spray paint to write "Gyanesh Gaddar Gyanesh Chor" -- calling the CEC a "traitor" and a "thief" -- in Hindi on the main gate and wall of the house.
