Congress demanded that affordable accommodation be provided to students, a rent control act be brought for hostels and PGs, and Rs 1 crore compensation to the family of those who lost their lives.
The AIIMS said a total of 12 people were brought to the hospital, of whom three were in critical condition. The hospital said the identities of those killed were yet to be ascertained.
MCD also issued an order, asking the owner of a building adjacent to the collapsed building to demolish the structure within three days after it was found to be in a "ruinous and dangerous condition".
A senior MCD official said permission in the area was limited to a ground-plus-one structure, while the collapsed building had four floors above the ground floor.
