By increasing parking charges, authorities aim to reduce traffic congestion and limit vehicular emissions, which are major contributors to the city’s worsening air quality.
The CAQM recommended a slew of measures, including the time-bound phasing out of polluting vehicles based on emission potential and strengthening of on-road monitoring with remote sensing devices.
The project is targeted for completion within nine months and is expected to benefit around three lakh residents who currently lack access to an organised sewer network.
