The top court’s order was a big relief for Velu, accused of alleged irregularities in the implementation of road infrastructure projects during his tenure in office.
The DVAC registered the FIR against Velu, certain government officials and a contractor on June 24 based on a complaint filed in 2022 by anti-corruption NGO Arappor Iyakkam.
The request follows the preparation of a detailed project report by the National Technology Centre for Ports, Waterways and Coasts (NTCPWC) at IIT Madras, outlining a Rs 118 crore plan.
