Eight Andhra Pradesh fishermen nabbed for fishing in Rushikulya river mouth in Odisha

The Odisha government had imposed a seven-month fishing ban within 20 km from the coast at the river mouth of Rushikulya to ensure the safety of Olive Ridleys during their mating and breeding season.

The government imposed the seven-month ban on fishing in around 120-km coastal areas in Gahirmatha and three river mouths from November 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022, to protect the Olive ridleys.
