Car, van catch fire after head-on collision 

A car and a van collided head-on near a bridge at Nawabpalem village in Tadepalligudem mandal on Thursday night due to dense fog.

ELURU: A car and a van collided head-on near a bridge at Nawabpalem village in Tadepalligudem mandal on Thursday night due to dense fog.

According to police, Korukonda Mahesh and his wife Radhika of Guntur were going to Rajahmundry in an Alto. It collided with a Tata-407 going to Hyderabad from Rajahmundry at a road turning. The two vehicles caught fire due to the sparks generated because of the impact of collision.   


Flames engulfed the two vehicles within no time. Some local people rushed to the spot and rescued the couple and crew from the burning vehicles. Police and fire services personnel rushed to the spot and extinguished the flames. The couple were slightly injured in the incident.

The car was totally destroyed in the fire. The van was partially burnt. Following the incident, the traffic on the highway disrupted for an hour. A case was registered.
