HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh police informed the High Court on Thursday that a case against Kancha Ilaiah was registered at the Kanigiri police station in Prakasam, based on a complaint lodged by Vattsala, a resident of Pedda Gollapalli in the district, alleging that the professor had been creating enmity among  communities through his writings and his alleged remarks against Vysa the community in a recent book.

The counsel for AP made a submission before justice Challa Kodandaram, who was dealing with a petition filed by Vattsala which sought declaration as illegal the inaction of Kanigiri police in registering a case against Ilaiah.The counsel for AP told the court that the Kanigiri police had registered a case against Ilaiah based on the petitioner’s complaint under Sections 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy) and 153-A read with Section 34 of IPC. The police started investigation after registering an FIR, he added.
After recording the statement of AP’s counsel, the judge closed the petition.
