Xylo, the Multi Purpose Utility Vehicle (MPV) was launched by Mahindra back in 2009. Due to its impressive design, rugged looks and sheer practicality, it was sold in good numbers. Although the car was known for its spacious cabin and comfort but still it lacked in some areas that were needed to be worked upon. However, the company has now introduced a refreshed version of Xylo to boost the dipping sales of the MPV. The upgraded model has now received both cosmetic and mechanical changes. The pricing differs according to the variant you have selected, it comes in 5 distinct model namely D2, D4, H4, H8 and H9 which has a price range in between Rs. 7.52 lakh to 10.3 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The CUV has always offered better ride, reliability and comfort and always been a better option for the people who seems to be interested in buying crossover cum utility vehicle.
Talking about the exteriors, the new Xylo comes with elegant new chrome highlighted headlight on the front with revamped bumpers while rear tail lights has also got chrome inserts. Earlier the design looked a bit boxy and dull which was not too attractive but now it gets an stylish design from the side. The bonnet gets a new Mahindra logo on it with a smooth curvy design that looks stunning on the move. Also a new centre grille consisting of 8 vertical slats with black horizontal slats behind them, that represents its aggressive and bold identity. The turn indicators are placed on the extreme corner position which comes integrated with the headlamp.
Coming to the changes made in the interior include a new 2-DIN audio system which now include wireless connectivity for controlling audio functions with bluetooth, multi-functional instrument cluster, steering mounted audio & cruise control and also the interiors got a new distinct look with a black and beige theme all around. The display unit is digital that will give you all the information like the outside and inside temperature, speed, distance covered and the gear in which you are driving the vehicle. The seats are covered with the quality material having 7 to 9 passenger seating capability and the third row getting foldable 60:40 split functionality.
The base variants D2 and D4 are coming up with 2.5 litre mDI, CRDe engine that churns maximum power of 93.5bhp and a peak torque of 218Nm mated to 5-speed manual gearbox while the top variants are equipped with 2.2 litre mHawk turbo diesel motor that produces power of 118bhp at 4000rpm and a top torque of 280Nm at 2400-2800rpm coupled with a new “5MT320” five speed gearbox that helps in smoother gear shifts while driving. For ride handling and comfort, the refreshed version gets an updated suspension mechanism. All the versions now gets a double wishbone type independent suspension at the front while rear comes with multi-link coil suspension.
Safety has been enhanced by the CDT technology that helps you in taking turns with greater ease and confidence. Stopping distance has been reduced with the help of advanced braking system that include ABS with EBD. Also, the ground clearance of the top variants namely H4, H8 and H9 is 26mm more than the lower end variants.
