Sports carmaker Ferrari is back in India after a temporary break and it has come out with the launch of its new performance car California T. The California series was first launched in 1950s and this is the first California model to be launched in India. The model was debuted last year in Geneva Auto Show and it will be available at a price of INR 3.45 crores, making it the cheapest Ferrari to be sold in the country. Ferrari had to shut business in India for some time because of the miserable after sales service that caused severe damage to its brand image. Ferrari has now tied up with two new dealers, one in Delhi and other in Mumbai.
Presently, there are 50 models of Ferrari that ply on Indian roads and as per the statements by the company, eight bookings of California t have already been done and there are several queries regarding the new model. At the moment, Ferrari will deliver the car in 3-4 months depending upon the colour specifications and requirements of the customers. If the car needs to be highly customised, the waiting can go up to 6 months too.
California T has front looks quite similar to 250 Testa Rossa, has a large front grille, high wheel flared arches, low-lying body which well indicates that the car was made for speed. It has a retractable rooftop, which makes it go from the sexy sports car to a classy looking coupé. In the inside of California T, Ferrari has left no stone unturned to make it a head turner. It has leather upholstery and host of other high-end quality materials. It boasts of a new 6.5-inch touchscreen as well as manual infotainment system as per the choice of the customer. The turbo performer display has been placed in between the AC vents in the centre for the driver to skim through the information displayed while on the move.
California T is a front engine Ferrari which has a 3.9 litre bi-turbo V8 engine producing power of 552bhp and max torque of 755Nm. It comes mated to a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. The combination of both makes California T to gain the maximum speed of 316kmpl. It goes from 0-100 in flat 3.6 seconds. Coupled with carbon ceramic brakes, the California T comes to a halt quickly from a high speed. The body, the chassis, as well as the retractable rooftop, are made of aluminium which according to Ferrari, will make the California T from a roadster to a spider in just a few seconds. The car also gets F1 Track stability control, SCM3 magnetorheological suspensions and ESP 8.0.
Ferrari California T will be competing against Porsche 911 Turbos Convertible, Bentley Continental GT cabriolet, Aston Martin DBS Volante and to be launched Rolls Royce Dawn. It will be sold alongside 458 Spider, 458 Speciale, 488 GTB and F12 Berlinetta.
