Renault Unveils 2016 Talisman Premium Sedan

Renault the French auto giant has revealed the new D-Segment sedan named ‘Talisman’. The automaker says that the name was given to the car because it sounds charismatic invoking the concept of both power and protection. The company adds that the name is easy to pronounce and can be understood by the whole world. The vehicle will go on sale at the end of this year in Europe, but Indian debut plans are not yet revealed by the automaker.

The company will be showcasing the Talisman at the upcoming 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show to be held on 17th September. The saloon is introduced for replacing both Laguna and Latitude and in comparison, Talisman is way much better than these two cars. The new sedan will lock horns with the likes in the segment such as Ford Mondeo, Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb.

In terms of design, Talisman borrows cues from the new Espace Crossover, the front façade of the car gets radiator grille which is extensive and trough-shaped along with the horizontal slat. The Renault Lozenge placed at the center looks very appealing giving the car a graceful and classy feel. Talisman gets the signature ‘C’ shaped LED with daytime running lights and the headlamps are sleeker in shape and are skirted around the Renault logo. On the side profile, the new Talisman gets the large alloy wheels, smooth roofline while the lower part of the doors are indented. 

On the rear side, the car gets the permanently lit LED taillights, dual chrome tipped exhaust and black diffuser. Talisman measures about 4.85m in length, 1.87m in width, 1,46m in height and gets the wheelbase of 2.81 m. The boot space in the car is also good with 608 litres of luggage.

Stepping inside, Talisman cast a thorough impression of Espace, the cabin is quite spacious and the color theme gives the car a luxurious feel. The front seat for the occupants is electrically adjustable in 10 different ways with 6 position memory which also accompanies heating and massage function. The seats of the car are very comfy with premium covering in Nappa-grain upholstery and they can be folded in 60:40 ratio to increase space in the vehicle.

Talisman offers about 25 litres of storage space throughout the cabin, knee room of about 262 mm which is the best in the segment and the headroom of about 855mm. The car gets the three- spoke steering wheel with multi-functional switches on it. The Talisman features 3 infotainment systems- one is 4.2- inch central display for the base variants and other two are the Renault’s R-Link Infotainment units- 7-inch positioned in the landscape format and the whooping 8.7-inch placed in the portrait setup. Other features include digital instrument cluster, color HUD, Bose surround sound system with 13 speakers, the car also gets light and sound ambience coordination multi-sense, driver aid system and hands- free parking.

Under the hood, Talisman is offered with three diesel and two petrol engine options to choose from based on the CMF architecture. Diesel variants include dCi 110, dCi 130 and dCi 160 twin turbo units. The dCi 110 and dCi 130 will most probably come with the 6-speed manual or 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission gearbox while the dCi 160 will be available with the 6-speed automatic transmission gearbox. While, on the other hand, its petrol variant includes TCe 150 and TCe 200 turbocharged petrol engine which comes mated to only a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The car maker has offered the vehicle in different driving modes such as Comfort, Eco, Neutral and Sport.

With the launch, the car will be available in the flagship Paris version with the unique Amethyste black metallic paint with 19-inch wheels. 2016 Renault Talisman is the fully loaded luxury car which is engineered very smartly to take on the three big luxury stalwarts in Europe. The car is available in different color patterns; Dune Beige, Pearlescent White, Cosmos Blue, Cassiopee Grey, Platine Grey, Carmin Red, Vison Brown, Etoile Black and Amethyste Black.

Laurens van den acker- Senior Vice President, Corporate design, Renault said that they are proud to reveal Talisman, the Renault’s new four-door saloon in the market, he also added that The Talisman is generous in its exteriors in its cabin space and in the occupants comfort.
