Hyundai, the prominent car manufacturing company has launched its luxury brand ‘Genesis’ to keep pace with the fast-growing auto market. The Korean auto giant said that the Genesis means a ‘new beginning’ and the new brand will start introducing their products from December this year while the total of six models are lined-up for the coming years. Hyundai’s new Genesis according to the car maker will compete with many rivals in the luxury segment such as Volvo, Mercedes, BMW and Audi. Initially, the sales will commence in China, Korea, Middle East and in North America. Favoring the earliest development, Genesis will preserve traces into Europe and other Asian divisions.
Hyundai has created Prestige Design section to bring some specialties in the design of Genesis. From mid-2016, Luc Donckerwolke will supervise this section who earlier had been responsible for designing Lamborghini, Audi, Bentley, Skoda and SEAT. Peter Schreyer, the President and Chief Design Officer of Hyundai Motor Group will monitor the working for the new Prestige Design Division.
Genesis brand will adopt a new alphanumeric naming structure. The future models will be named by the letter ‘G’ for Genesis following the numbers 90,80 or 70 representing the entire segment. It seems that influence for this naming terminology comes from the Volvo cars such as Volvo ‘S60’ and Volvo ‘XC90’. This newly designed emblem firmly cements the Genesis model as a luxury vehicle under new nameplate.
Mr. Woong-Chul Yang, head of Hyundai motor R&D Center and Hyundai Motor Company’s Vice Chairman said that new Genesis model will provide customers the technological innovations, outstanding driving performance, and luxury. The company focuses customer’s needs while producing each and every model under the new brand without any extra burden to the buyers.
Mr. Euisun Chung, Vice President Hyundai Motor said that they have created new Genesis brand keeping in mind the customers who want a smart ownership vehicle that in turn saves time and effort with practical inventions and giving better satisfaction. The new Genesis brand will fulfill the expectations, becoming the market leader along with a human-centered strategy.
Detaching the Genesis from Hyundai, the Korean carmaker states that the new vehicle will have a different identity, emblem, customer service and naming structure. Hyundai is currently selling a sedan with the name Genesis that doesn’t carry the Hyundai logo. But all the models coming from Genesis will be badged with a redesigned wing-type emblem to create more luxurious looks.
