An elderly couple were helping their children climb the terrace as their house was flooded with water, when they were buried alive in a wall collapse.

BENGALURU: An elderly couple were helping their children climb the terrace as their house was flooded with water, when they were buried alive in a wall collapse. The deceased, Venkatappa and Kamalamma have two daughters and a son.

Around 6.30 pm, the couple noticed that water from the drains was entering their house near Mahalakshmi Layout. They asked their children to climb the terrace. Soon after, drain water gushed into their home and the couple tried to stop it. The children shouted as Kamalamma got buried under a wall which collapsed due to the heavy flow of water. Venkatappa, who went to rescue her, also fell victim to the situation.
The locals were unable to find them immediately as the couple had drowned. The staff of 108 service denied to take them as they were dead. Police called another ambulance to shift bodies for postmortem.
