KOLKATA: Tobacco to hotel major ITC Limited has recently opened an eleven storied luxury hotel — The Royal Gardenia in Bengaluru.

The 300-room hotel has been designed by renowned architect, Rajinder Kumar.

The exterior has built with beige Gwalior sandstone and Malaysian red bricks, interspersed by panels of specially treated smoked oak and highlighted with strips of copper in matt copper-sulphate patina.

The same material has been used for the roof, while the flooring of the entire hotel is in blonde Italian marble.

The hotel interiors have been created by UK based designer Francesca Basu. There are three meeting rooms, a board room and a business centre with internet guest stations in the hotel. The hotel offers a banquet hall along with a pre-function area covering approximately 8,000 square feet and a separate 2,500 square feet party room.

The high ceiling of the naturally lit, wind-cooled atrium lobby has unique vertical hanging gardens, whilst the majestic Lotus Pavilion in the central courtyard is reminiscent of Tipu Sultan’s summer Palace at Srirangapatna.

Taking inspiration from Bengaluru’s numerous gardens and public parks, each of ITC Royal Gardenia’s 11 floors follows a design theme based onvarious elements of nature includ ing earth, water, fire, stone, foliage and more.

Nakul Anand, Chief Executive, ITC Hotels Division, said “An ‘eco responsible’ ethos is an inherent part of our system and in creating ITC Royal Gardenia, the challenge was to see how luxury and responsibility could be in harmony together.”
