MUMBAI: After the meeting of senior executives of Tata group at its headquarters on Tuesday, more heads are expected to roll. While replacing Cyrus Mistry with Ratan Tata as the interim chairman of the group, key advisers of Mistry too were removed on Monday. Post Tuesday’s meeting of top executives, more action is expected in the coming days, a senior Tata group executive told the Express.
Ratan Tata himself firmly took control of the board by instituting two new members to the board. Jaguar Land Rover CEO Ralf Speth and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) CEO & MD N Chandrasekaran have been added to the board as additional directors. JLR and TCS are the most profitable of the 100 companies in Tata stable. JLR is also one of the most high profile acquistions made under Tata’s previous tenure as Chairman.
The removal of at least three key advisers of Mistry, CHRO head N S Rajan, strategist Nirmalya Kumar, business development officer Madhu Kannan has cemented the wipe-out of the Group Executive Council that Mistry instituted after taking over. Other members of the GEC — Harish Bhat and brand custodian Mukund Rajan have not been removed. Sources say that Indian Hotels MD Rakesh Sarna might be the next head to fall since Mistry and Tata had serious differences over the appointment, sources indicated.
