BANGALORE: He’s young and brimming with energy, one for whom the adage ‘fortune favours the brave’ is true. This Bangalore boy has proved quite a few critics wrong by winning the MTV Roadies Hell Down Under title.
Nauman Sait’s journey has been a quite a roller coaster -- kind of like the scary ride he had to get on to after drinking a strange concoction in one of the ‘hellish’ tasks. He had won an immunity in it. Samrat, Nauman’s bitter rival said with genuine respect at the end of the final episode, “Nauman has just proved himself.” Nauman says, “Winning is the only option for me.
I have always wanted to be the winner, and Roadies was the biggest stage for me. I had to win it.” Even after winning the title, the Karizma bike, Rs 3.62 lakh and of course, all the attention, he has kept his feet on the ground. “I will never change. I am just a little more positive and confident.” He was voted out, then came back through a wild card entry. Kiri picked him as the ‘better contender’ for the final task, and the rest is history.
Was it difficult? “Well, it was an assortment of experiences. When you stayed at the best locations, in the best hotels, with friends and fun times, it was great. But there were politics, anger and at the end, it was difficult.” Which brings us to his pet hate. Palak. “She was abusive and was responsible for voting out my good friends, Tamanna and Vanisha,” he says. Tamanna and he are still “just good friends”. The final task, which left him bleeding, was excruciating. His sporting background — he is a state-level cricketer and has played county cricket for Yorkshire — may have helped.
He feels that Roadies has taught him the valuable lesson that “most people are fake” and from here on, he will choose his friends carefully.
It will be an onward journey and he is ready to take up television projects and move to Mumbai, since he wants to make a mark in the glamour industry. His word of advice to future Roadies contestants, “You’ve gotta be yourself. And be confident, because without faith in yourself, you won’t get anywhere.”
