BANGALORE: Five years have passed since Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajkumar died after a prolonged illness. He has made a place in the heart of millions across the world.

Dr Rajkumar's fifth death anniversary was celebrated on Tuesday. The thespian's sons Shivaraj, Raghavendra, Puneeth, their family members and thousands of fans visited his Samadhi and offered prayers. They served food to thousands of people who had gathered at the Kanteerava Studios. However, Parvathamma Rajkumar could not visit Dr Rajkumar's samadhi due to health problems.

Rajkumar's fan clubs across the state had organised blood- and eye-donation camps. Many offered pooja and also served food to poor.

No memorial, statue

After the death of Rajkumar, the State Government had announced to establish his memorial at Kanteerava Studious and the BBMP had also promised to put up bronze statue in front of Town hall. But even after five years, both these works are pending.
