BANGALORE: Life Technologies, a global biotechnology company based in Carlsbad, Calif., announced  the launch of a regional distribution hub in India to address strong customer demand in the South Asia regions on July 13.

The new India Distribution Centre (IDC), located in Bangalore, will boost the availability, timely delivery and quality of Life Technologies’ products to its customers in the area.

“Life Technologies provides customers with systems, consumables and services that enable researchers to accelerate scientific and medical advancements,” said Devashish Ohri, managing director, Life Technologies South Asia. “By locating the India Distribution Centre in Bangalore, we can bring our innovative technologies more efficiently to our customers in the region and help translate their research into real-world applications.”

“South Asia is one of the fastest growing regions in the world,” said Mark Smedley, President of Asia Pacific & Japan for Life Technologies. “Opening the India Distribution Centre here is a clear demonstration of Life Technologies’ commitment to the scientific community, who increasingly conduct high-level research and development in South Asia. The Centre will greatly enhance the timeliness, accuracy and reliability of our product distribution to our thriving customer base in this region.”

The India Distribution Centre was set up in May 2011 and adopts a hub-and-spoke model, with Bangalore as the regional hub for Life Technologies’ product distribution throughout India. The facility spans a built-up area of 25,000 square feet, will address the increasing need with more products being made available locally, thus improving delivery time.
