BANGALORE: With the recent proposals to privatise water in the State, there is a growing need to treat waste water, reuse it and put it to alternative use.
A waste water treatment plant, which runs without mechanical means and sewage flows by gravity and is totally independent of electricity, has been implemented by the Consortium for DEWATS Dissemination (CDD) Society.
On Friday, one such plant was inaugurated at the Association of People with Disability (APD-India), (an NGO working for the betterment of disabled people) at their horticultural unit in Bangalore.
“DEWATS does not require much of human intervention once it is implemented and it does not emanate bad smell unlike in open treatment plant. The land used to set up the unit can also be put to use for gardening or caar parking, as it is underground,” said Rajesh Pai, Director, CDD society.
