BBMP to issue new PID numbers soon

 Soon, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will issue new Property Identification (PID) numbers to all the property owners, and collect arrears from defaulters.

 The BBMP, which has developed a GIS-based Property Tax System, by World eGovernments Organisation of Cities and Local Governments (WeGO) at a function held on November 12 in Barcelona.

 BBMP Standing Committee Chairman (Taxation and Finance) K A Muneendra Kumar said, “Revenue officials are validating properties which will be completed by December-end.

 We will start issuing new PID numbers within two months.

” Also, details of the PID will be updated on BBMP’s website.

 “From the next fiscal year, people will have to pay taxes using their new PID number,” he said.

 The BBMP has so far collected Rs 1,060 crore as property tax and is expecting to collect another `600 crore.

 Former Standing Committee chairman (Taxation and Finance) Manjunath Raju said, “Through this process, we will get a better picture of tax defaulters.

 We will collect the arrears with interest.

” ‘Road History Process to Complete Soon’

Next time you come across a street light that is on during daytime, you will not face trouble in explaining the location to the BBMP authorities.

 With the road history process is expected to be completed in the a few months, each road will have an unique number.

 As part of the BBMP GIS based Property Identification (PID) number project, the BBMP authorities have listed out 94,613 roads using Google Maps.

 Advisor to Commissioner, Sheshadri T said, “PID number is nothing but a combination of ward number, street number and property numbers.

” Muneendra Kumar said that they were also planning to paint the PID numbers on each house along with the BBMP logo.

 “All the Councillors will be informed and a separate van will be sent to each ward to paint the unique number,” he said.

 “As each road will have a unique number, it will be easier for the BBMP authorities to reach the spot,” he said.
