Whenever you get some time, read spiritual books and the lives of Mahatmas. Spiritual reading is like looking at the mind through a microscope. It clearly highlights and reveals the limitations of our own mind and intellect. We become aware of the complex gymnastics that the Ego performs every instant to retain its Supremacy over us... If we begin to read Spiritual books, it becomes a habit. Then we can assimilate what we read and put it into practice. Life becomes a process of continuous learning and transformation.
Looking at Ashok’s father Captain Raman, Shri Nimishananda Guruji said - “Mental discipline is indispensable to the mind and intellect so that they don’t indulge unnecessarily in intellectual analysis. As long as we are caught in the trap of logical analysis, it is impossible to transcend the frontiers of the mind.
Spirituality should be approached intuitively and not intellectually.
For this, we must discipline the mind and intellect so that they don’t generate unnecessary thoughts but remain peaceful and contented.
Yes, discipline if the key and love is the lock. We must use this key to unlock the unconditional love latent in everyone of us.”
Guru - A giant eraser
Ravi’s son, Pramod knelt before Shri Nimishananda Guruji with a pen in his hands. He said - “Pujya Guruji, my tenth standard exams are beginning. Please bless my pen...”
Shri Nimishananda Guruji took the pen from Pramod and held it in His hands with His eyes closed. After a few moments, Pujya Guruji handed the pen back to Pramod who received it with reverence and prostrated as he took it.
When Pramod had resumed his seat, Shri Nimishananda Guruji laughed at him and said - “It is not the pen that is important. The hand that holds the pen should be blessed.
So there is really no meaning in getting the pen blessed. Do you understand? “ Pramod nodded. Shri Nimishananda Guruji smilingly continued - “You take a pen and write. Your Guru will erase every word...” Pramod looked startled and concerned. Laughing Pujya Pujya Guruji said — “Don’t worry, I’m not talking about your exams.
The Guru is a giant eraser, who erases all the Karmic writing written with the pen called your Ego.”
All of us laughed at this unconventional and witty definition of the Guru. Shri Nimishananda Guruji smiled mischievously at us and said - “It’s getting late. If we don’t leave soon, the eraser called sleep will erase all the thoughts in your minds ...Then I will have no work, but our hosts will find their hands full !”
As Shri Nimishananda Guruji rose to leave, all of us prostrated at His Lotus Feet. Our hearts overflowed with bliss.
