Don't Waste Bits And Pieces of Soap

Varsha Gopinathan

What do you do with all the scraps of soap bars or mini soaps that you collect but can’t use up? Well, don’t throw them away as you can convert them to a liquid handwash for nothing!

Things you need

  •     Soap scraps. I used scraps of an anti-septic soap and a bath soap.
  •     Water (8-10 times the quantity of grated soap)
  •     Glycerin (optional) two teaspoons
  •     Grater
  •     Big vessel and a spoon to stir
  •     Aromatic oil

Step1

Grate soap scraps finely.

Step2

Put one cup of the grated soap in a big vessel. I added eight cups of water to the soap shards.

Step3

Heat the soap-water mixture till the grated soap dissolves completely. Then switch off the flame. Once the mixture cools, you can transfer it to the soap dispenser. Use after about 10 hours.

PS: From 1 cup of grated soap, I got 1400ml of liquid soap with just a little water. If you want, you can put some aromatic oil of your choice when you heat the mixture.
