Quilled Jhumka

Varsha Gopinathan

BENGALURU: Step 1

Glue together three strips of the lightest shade of orange. Now wind this long strip to form a tight coil. Glue the end. Form similar tight coils using five strips of the next shade and eight strips of the darkest shade.

Step 2

Place the coils on top of one of the humps in quilling mould and press it down gently. Remove it gently and you will get a cup like structure. Gently apply glue on the inside of the cup. So that it retains its shape. Repeat the process with the other coils, ensuring that each time you push it against a bigger hump so that you get a cup that is one size bigger.

Step 3

If you wish to paint on these cups do so. Then apply mod podge on the outerside and let it rest.

Step 4

Once it dries completely, take a headpin and pass a bead, then pass three seabeads and then the smallest cup, a few more beads and then the second cup and a few more beads and then the biggest cup.

PS: The number of seabeads used for spacing between the cups is up to your choice.

Step 5

Put the bead cap and using the nose plier, twist the end of the head pin to a hook. While twisting the head pin, be careful not to squeeze the quilled cups. Attach a earring hook and you are done.
