Bought land from Jadhav's mom but my name wasn't entered: Spa owner

Express News Service

BENGALURU: AS the land purchases by Chief Secretary Arvind Jadhav come under a cloud, a businessman and filmmaker has confirmed to Express that he purchased the Devanahalli land from Jadhav and developed it into a spa. But the said land continues to be in the name of Jadhav’s mother Tarabai simply because “officials forgot to manually enter his name in the land records”, says the owner.

Shashi Bhushan, owner of Windflower Prakruti Resorts Spa, also told Express that he bought the land in 1996 and not 1999 as Jadhav has been saying in his statements.

Bhushan says, “I purchased 16 acres 10 guntas from Tarabai Maruthirao Jadhav in the year 1996, though I do not remember how much I bought it for.”

Jadhav has been accused of grabbing land in his mother’s name in connivance with government officials. It is alleged that Jadhav manipulated land records and misused his office to get 8.2 acres of government-owned land in Ramanayakanahalli, Anekal, registered in his mother’s name.

He defended the purchase saying it was bought after selling family property in Devanahalli while he was posted in Delhi. But documents show that the 16-acre land in Hegganahalli village, Devanahalli, which he claims to have sold, remains in his mother’s name. They clearly state that Tarabai still holds the land bearing the survey numbers 76A, 77, 80 and 81.
