BENGALURU: Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has demanded the state government to initiate a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in implementation of Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project by the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise(NICE).

The demand comes in the wake of Legislature Committee report affirming alleged irregularities in land use by the NICE. Speaking to reporters here on Sunday he demanded, the state government to implement the report.

“The NICE has build layouts by taking over lands of poor farmers. The state government should demolish these layouts just like it demolished the houses in some layouts in Bengaluru recently. Over all NICE has developed illegal layouts at six places,” Gowda said.

Recalling his two-decade long fight against the project, Gowda said that he would continue his struggle till his last breath. “NICE promoters are making huge money without investing a single paisa. They are collecting money(toll) by grabbing lands belonging to farmers and the government. Government should conduct a CBI probe to unearth the mega scam,” he demanded.

Gowda wanted the state government to take over the NICE project and invite global tenders to implement the project.
