BENGALURU: A city-based college affiliated to Bangalore University successfully conducted paperless examination on a pilot basis.

Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women at Malleswaram experimented on Saturday with two exams — Constitution and Environmental studies and Computer applications — which are non-core subjects for undergraduate courses.

Speaking to Express, college authorities said, “We decided to do something new and introduced paperless examination using tabs. As these non-core subjects were multiple choice it was easy.”
For this, the college had associated with IPOMO company for technical assistance. As per the college instructions, the company had uploaded the question papers through Mobile Mark Recognise technology. (MMR).

As the question papers are in ABCD series, each student will get different series of question papers and it is impossible to indulge in malpractice. “We have provided codes to each student and they need to scan the quick response code before answering the paper. The tab will not respond until the exam time starts,” said a top official of the college.

These tabs were provided by the college and once the students completed answering the questions they just had to click on the submit button. And before submitting they could even change the answers they had marked. The students also got immediate results.
