Interim bail for Bengaluru journalist Ravi Belagere on health ground

Belagare, 59, was on Monday sent to a 12-day judicial custody after he was arrested on December 8.

BENGALURU: Ravi Belagere, the editor of the tabloid Hai Bengaluru who was arrested for alleged conspiracy to murder his former colleague Sunil Heggaravalli, has been granted interim bail on medical grounds by a sessions court in the city on Wednesday. The bail is valid till December 16. On Wednesday, the court granted conditional bail after his counsel Diwakar moved the court.

Belagere was shifted to Bengaluru Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara after a local court remanded him to 14 days in judicial custody till December 23. He was lodged in the hospital ward of the prison.
On Tuesday, Belagere was taken to Victoria Hospital where doctors conducted several tests related diabetes and said his vital parameters were normal. However, the family expressed anxiety after Ravi Belagere is said to have complained about lack of sleep owing to lower back pain and fluctuating sugar levels.
