BENGALURU:  The Ramamurthy Nagar police have arrested four minors for allegedly molesting an 11-year-old girl at an isolated place in Vijinapura here. Though the incident occurred on July 10, it came to light only after the arrests were made.

The prime suspect in the case was nabbed in Hubballi on Friday and is being brought to the city while three others were nabbed in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Police said the arrested are aged between 14 and 16 years and were studying in a government school in Ramamurthy Nagar. The girl, a sixth standard student in another government school, was returning home around 4 pm on July 10 when six boys dragged her to an isolated place and allegedly molested her. In a bid to escape, she kicked one of them and raised an alarm. The prime suspect then slapped her repeatedly and fled the scene.

After returning home, the girl narrated the incident to her mother who works as a helper in a private company. She informed the police who filed a case and arrested three accused on Wednesday. The trio has been sent to a juvenile home in the city.

The girl further said in her statement that the prime suspect had tried to follow her a day before the incident. Since she was accompanied by her younger sister, he did not trouble her. The next day, when he saw her walking alone, he, along with his friends, dragged her to an isolated place and allegedly molested her.

Two more suspects are still at large. Police have filed a case under Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and further investigations are on.
