BENGALURU: A 16-year-old boy committed suicide by hanging himself at an under-construction building next to his house at Billamaranahalli in Chikkajala police station limits, on Wednesday.The deceased is Gagan, an SSLC student at Government High School in Billamaranahalli. According to the police, Gagan had asked his father to buy him a mobile phone as all his classmates were bringing phones to school. But Gagan’s father put a condition to him that he would buy him a mobile phone only if he got good marks in the ensuing SSLC examination.

The boy, however, again demanded his father to buy a phone when he returned from school on Tuesday and it led to a quarrel between them. Depressed, the boy ended his life, the police said.  The incident came to light when his mother found her son hanging.Anyone with emotional distress, can call SAHAI helpline at 080-25497777, open from Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm.
