BENGALURU: The woman who was molested by a 28-year-old cab driver on June 1, had kicked him twice when he initially started misbehaving with her inside the car.

She warned him that he would never escape punishment for his crime. Scared of her warning, he decided to drop her at the airport, the victim told the police in her statement during the identification parade on Wednesday.

A police officer from Jeevan Bima Nagar police said, “The victim told the police that the accused Arun V, repeatedly tried to contact her the next morning to apologize. She did not answer his calls and then he texted her asking her not to approach the police. She discussed with her father and then sent a complaint to the city police commissioner through e-mail. Arun was handed over to judicial custody on Thursday. His lawyers have approached court seeking bail”.

Ola driver Arun had driven the cab towards an isolated place near Kothanur and molested the 24-year-old woman passenger who was heading to the airport to take a flight to Mumbai on work. Arun had stopped the car on the way as she was alone and centrally locked the doors before reaching an isolated place.
