BENGALURU: From September 1, even flyers landing at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will have to pay user development fees (UDFs).
As shared by the Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) on Friday, the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) has issued its tariff order for the fourth control period from FY 2026-27 to FY 2030-31 for KIA Bengaluru. As part of the revised tariff structure, the UDF will be Rs 300 for departing and Rs 125 for arriving domestic passengers, and Rs 997 for departing and Rs 426 for arriving international passengers. These rates will remain applicable till August 2029, following which the tariff will undergo modification based on the completion of key projects including Terminal 2 (T2) Phase 2 and associated facilities.
The combined domestic UDF for a departing domestic passenger will be Rs 425 compared with the existing Rs 550, while the combined international UDF will be Rs 1,423 compared with the existing Rs 1,500 charged to a departing international passenger.
The AERA has determined that the charge should be shared between arriving and departing passengers, consistent with the approach adopted across other newly launched and major airports in India.
“The tariff order also recognises the significant infrastructure investments planned at BLR airport as we continue to build capacity for the future. It addresses several major projects, including T2 Phase 2, T2 Phase 2 apron, airfield works, road and landside infrastructure and other related aeronautical projects. Certain incremental tariffs associated with major projects will become applicable only after the respective infrastructure has been completed, commissioned and put into use, and following the process prescribed by AERA,” a BIAL spokesperson said.
Till September 1, the existing UDF structures for domestic and international departing passengers will continue.
