BENGALURU: The much-awaited elevated section of Namma Metro’s Pink Line, earlier slated to open on August 15, is now likely to be opened for public service in the first week of September, subject to statutory clearances.
Speaking to TNSE, BMRCL Managing Director PC Jaffer said, “With respect to the elevated section of the Pink Line, all that is pending is Railway Board approval for the rolling stock, which will be followed by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) inspection. From BMRCL’s end, all work is done,” Jaffer said. He said the section could be opened in September, but the exact date would depend on statutory clearances.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Saturday inspected the underground section of the Pink Line, which will connect Dairy Circle to Nagawara. Jaffer said the minister had set mid 2027 as the target for completing the underground section, and BMRCL considered the deadline achievable. “The civil works are completed and electrification is nearly completed. Signalling work is being taken up,” Jaffer said.
