‘Hard work defines one’s life’

Akshaya Venkatesan

Understanding of god

I believe strongly in the existence of god. Only if I could see him or talk to him, life would have been a lot simpler and his existence would be more logical.

Spiritual beliefs

I don’t have any particular spiritual belief. I take life as it comes. I make sure to make the best use of every day.

Spiritual practices

I used to visit temples while I was in school. But I stopped visiting them over a period of time. Now, I hardly remember the  last time I visited one. Over the years, life has evolved and my understanding of it has changed quite a bit, I think.

Pilgrimage sites

I have not gone to any pilgrimage sites after growing up. I think the practice of visiting such places has vanished with age and the pace of life. Life is a journey by itself, making it holy is in one’s hands. If one’s lazy and fails to face reality, visiting shrines will not change anything.

Take on miracles

With the fast-paced life I lead, I do not have the time to check what’s going to happen in the future or if there’s a possibility of a miracle. I guess it is better to accept whatever comes our way than waiting for something which is only a probability. It is one’s hardwork that defines one’s life.
