Mahaveer Award winners announced

The Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation announced the winners of the 15th Mahaveer Awards on Tuesday at a press conference here in the city.

The Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation announced the winners of the 15th Mahaveer Awards on Tuesday at a press conference here in the city.

The winners were selected from 258 nominations. This includes 226 individual nominees and 32 institutions. The selection jury, headed by MN Venkatachaliah, former Chief Justice of India also had Dipchand Gardi, Bar at Law, Pooja Acharya Chandanaji Maharaj, Sanyasini, Mehta, social activist and retired IAS officer, and T S Krishnamurthy, retired Chief Election Commissioner of India.

For their work in the category of non-violence and vegetarianism, Chiranjee Lal Bagra from Kolkata was awarded. For education, the award went to the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Bhubaneswar. In the field of medicine, Dr  Anant Sinha from Jharkhand was declared the winner and in the community and social service category, the jury selected the Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar.
