'Doubt i'd get away with jokes on god'

Chandini U

CHENNAI: Cary Edwards is a familar name among people who love stand up comedy and watch his shows as a VJ. We got in touch with him to talk to us about his thoughts on god and godly encounters...

If you had to describe god to a child?

Hey little Johnny, you know how astronauts work  in space on the International Space Station...well, god is kinda like that.

What if god was a man? Or a woman?

If god was a man we would have no emotion, if god was a woman we would have no logic, but we have both. So what is god? Made up.

What would you say to god if he or she appeared in front of you?

Wow I was wrong! But I believe now.

If you had the power to grant one gift, what would it be?

The ability to stop listening to prayers for 24 hours. We must be driving him nuts.

Your most godly encounter?

I slowly seem to be turning into a laughing Buddha.

Funniest encounter in a place of worship?

The first time I received communion in church and I felt like the host sucked all the moisture out of my body. I was 10 and freaked out.

If you had to prepare a joke about god and also present it in front of him, what would it be?

I would love to tell you all the god jokes I know because I can guarantee he/she won’t take offence. I don’t have that much faith in people. If a comedian can’t get away with jokes about Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar, I don’t think I can get away with god jokes.
