CHENNAI: Youngsters should embrace change and continue to challenge the status quo and continue to re-invent and re-skill themselves, says Sathish Jeyaraman, Vice President, HR Cognizant Technology Solutions.
He was speaking at the valedictory of Pan IIT Alumni Leadership series (PALS) 2016-17 on Saturday. He said it was the digital era now. “Now we have automated transaction to digitisation, There would be banks without physical structures in future. There have been significant transformation in health care industries. In future, doctors sitting miles away can diagnose patients,” he said adding that students should be aware of the pace at which the change is happening. Innovation happens at the grass-root level.
He further said due to the rapid pace of digitisation and automation, 50 per cent of jobs will go away. He asked whether the present generation would be ready to accept the change.
“We should embrace digital and automation. We should use digital to solve the problems like in infrastructure or in any field,” he said.
Thiru Srinivasan, Chairman of PALS, said in 2016-17, PALS worked with 11 colleges in Chennai and Tiruchy, which include Agni College of Technology, KCG College of Technology, Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology, Loyola ICAM College of Engineering and Technology, MAM College of Engineering, Tiruchy and others.
IIT-Madras Director Bhaskar Ramamurthi, who was the chief guest, said we have to learn to align ourselves to change. The event witnessed 16 campus lectures with 3000 students and 85 faculty members, seven theory to practice lectures with 2,000 students and 80 faculties.
