Facelift for Central:  Pre-bid meet held

CHENNAI: Over 20 entities took part in the Pre-bid meeting on re-development of Chennai Central railway station, held at the Southern Railway Headquarters here on Friday.
Prospective developers, including architects, bankers and Chennai Metro (CMRL) officials participated in the meeting. Besides prominent names such as TATA Realty and Larsen and Toubro, representatives from the Australian Consulate were in attendance.
In Southern Railway, Chennai Central and Kozhikode figure in the first phase, as they have been identified to be high potential stations. The project cost of Chennai Central has been estimated at `350 crore. Officials said after the award of bids, expected shortly, the redevelopment work would be planned and completed in three years.
