Airman commits suicide at Tambaram Air Force base in Chennai

Police are yet to ascertain a cause for the extreme step, and the body was sent to a government hospital for autopsy.

CHENNAI: An airman allegedly shot himself dead while on duty at the Tambaram Air Force base in the city on Wednesday night. The deceased was transferred to the base, located in the southern suburb of the city, in March, and was found dead during change of duty, officials told police.

Gulbeer Singh (24) was found dead with a gunshot by his colleague, after which air force officials lodged a complaint at Selaiyur police station. 

Police are yet to ascertain a cause for the extreme step, and the body was sent to a government hospital for autopsy.
