CHENNAI : Pregnant women residing within Greater Chennai Corporation can avail benefits provided by the government by registering with Pregnancy Infant Cohort Monitoring and Evaluation (PICME) system, said a statement by the Greater Chennai Corporation on Friday.

The registration is mandatory to obtain the child’s birth certificate. However, expecting mothers can pre-register using helpline 102, by approaching an e-seva centre or by visiting picme.tn.gov.in/picme_public. They will get a Reproductive and Child Health ID, which is used to maintain all medical records.
At the time of ante-natal care they will have to provide their details at the hospitals to receive their PICME number.
