CHENNAI: Two lorry drivers, including an 18-year-old, were arrested after they allegedly confessed to have murdered their colleague following a drunken brawl and buried his body at an isolated spot near Alamathi in Tiruvallur. The police are planning to exhume the remains on Saturday in the presence of a tahsildar for postmortem.

The deceased, M Gokul (27) of Kanniyakumari, worked as a lorry driver in Alamathi. His younger brother, Rahul, lodged a complaint with Sholavaram police stating that Gokul had been missing since October 7. Based on the complaint, Sholavaram police registered a case and began an investigation.

They examined CCTV footage from the Alamathi area and identified the suspects: Ayyappan (18) and Sathish (33), residents of Avadi. During interrogation, they confessed that a brawl broke out with Gokul after the trio had consumed alcohol at a Tasmac outlet on October 7. Ayyappan and Sathish hit Gokul on the head with a helmet at an isolated spot, causing him to collapse and die.

The duo then dug a pit near the Tiruvallur highway at Alamathi and buried his body.
